Qualification Details
This certificate, which includes national unit standards, provides solid wood manufacturing core skills.
Graduates will:
- be able to demonstrate knowledge of systems and techniques used to work efficiently in wood manufacturing;
- be able to participate, with technical support, in the investigation of wood manufacturing production issues;
- recognise the fundamental requirements of an employee within wood manufacturing industries;
- be able to apply hazard identification and risk assessment procedures in the workplace;
- possess introductory skills applicable to logistics and handling of logs and wood products in wood manufacturing operations;
- have further in-depth knowledge particular to log yard and wood preparation, or yarding and dispatch;
- understand introductory systematic problem solving and continuous improvement techniques.
