The next round of Forest Operations courses begin June 14th, 2010!The forestry industry is an exciting industry to be involved in - from making logs to using technical equipment in the forest. It's all about getting the best value from the trees to make great wood products. Waiariki offers a full-time, Level 3 qualification to get started in your forestry career. You'll also start with a full set of protective gear and chainsaw. As a national forestry trainer we provide a very supportive learning environment, which can build your self-esteem, improve your confidence and help you develop good work habits. If you complete the course sucessfully you will complete the following -
Length: 16 Weeks Study options: Full time, Part time Subjects: Code of Practice Relating to Chainsaw Use, Chainsaw Safety, Commercial Forestry in NZ, Factors which Impair the Performance of Forestry Workers, knowledge of environmental requirements in forest operations, knowledge of plantation forest harvesting. Campus: Rotorua (Mokoia), Taupo, Tokoroa, Whakatane, Turangi, Kawerau, Murupara, Hawkes Bay, Northland Job Opportunities: Forestry worker, skid site workers, Log Quality controller.
