Forestry Courses

The Diploma in Forest Management has been revised and updated for delivery in 2010. The new diploma offers the students the opportunity to extend their skills and knowledge of forest management and forestry in New Zealand.

Forest management involves applying forestry knowledge and skills to the planning and management of plantation forests on a sustainable basis. Plantation forestry in New Zealand is expected to grow in value over the next 15 years with increased levels of wood coming being ready for harvesting.

The aim of this diploma is to provide students with a blend of management skills to successfully work in any aspect of commercial forestry in New Zealand, applied in areas as diverse as forest management, forestry or harvesting operations, contract management, log product logistics, supply chain management, or commercial and financial analysis.

Students will have the opportunity to extend their skills and knowledge in business management, forestry, information technology, Maori development or wood processing. This diploma also provides a pathway for students to progress towards a degree qualification in forestry science, applied management, computing systems, commerce or Mâori development.
