01.07.2009 - Hank Bier Reflects

As Hank finishes his contract, he shares a few thoughts from his time here.
"I am leaving Waiariki School of Forestry, Wood Processing and Biotechnology and can reflect on a journey that has seen the school move from a small base in A block (classrooms) to a very different front of house that is a demonstration of what wood can do in a building, as well as providing some of the best office space on campus.

I have been most privileged. I have enjoyed being part of a school that is developing and growing.

Thank you to all the wonderful people who have contributed to the experience. I leave behind a list of projects that should enable the completion of the next phase of development in the school and in particular look forward to seeing the kilns up and running again at the Waipa campus.

I leave for a new journey with different challenges, working for a short time in a university environment in Italy as a visiting researcher in a school of architecture. Thereafter, who knows? But I figure - Somebody does."
