Prof Brack was an invited speaker to the International Union of Forest Research Organisations (IUFRO) during their conference “Multipurpose Forest Management: Strategies for sustainability in a climate change era” at Niggata, Japan, during 20 – 25 September.
There were over 110 participants covering 44 countries. Invited presentations ranged from exploring the concept of multiple use and multiple objective management in forests, through to collecting information to support this type of management, looking specifically at the issues of carbon sequestration and emission and the technical roles of remote sensing and growth modelling.
