Shane Bennett  

 

Shane joined the Forestry School as a Timber Machining tutor in 2005.  His current role includes program teaching, team building, student motivation and student support.  Prior to 2005 Shane worked for Thames Timber where he worked on the production line in a mouldings plant.  His role included tool room duties, machine setting and staff motivation.  Shane also worked at Otorohanga Timber Company.  Some of his duties included being a shift supervisor being - responsible for a team of up to 8 timber machinists in a manufacturing environment.
Shane is a registered assessor with FITEC and completed the Certificate in Adult Teaching in 2005.  He has also completed the National Certificate in Timber Machining.  Current studies include the Diploma in Manufacturing (Level 5) and the Advanced Trade Certificate (Timber Machining).  In 2000 Shane was awarded with the 'Most Improved Trainee' award for that year.
As a staff member of the Wood Processing department, Shane is a member of the NZTMEA and attends the events and conferences that are held.
