What I know about wood that I didn't know before I started at the School of Forestry
When I started at the School of Forestry, Wood Processing and Biotechnology in 2007, I was given the opportunity to enrol onto a Women’s Chainsaw Course. I jumped at the chance to do this thinking it would help give me a little knowledge and something I could talk to the all male staff at the Waipa Campus about.
Along with a number of other ladies I learnt the code of practice relating to chainsaw use and also how to operate a chainsaw.
As part of the Women’s Chainsaw Course we were given a Pink Tee Shirt with Yellow Hi Vis writing on the back…what did I learn form this course…as per the writing on the back of the tee shirt “ Filing a Chainsaw is just like filing your nails”.
