Student Profiles

Vlasko Petrovic - Woodflow Planner  - Hancock Natural Resouce Group.

Originally from Serbia, Vlasko joined the Diploma in Forest Management with limited knowledge of English and limited knowledge of forest management so he had work hard to master these two disciplines. Vlasko's capability in both had improved immensely by the end of the two year diploma. As he sought job opportunities within the NZ forestry industry, teaching staff within the Department of Forest management were willing to offer him advice and assistance. He was successful in securing a full time position as a Woodflow Planner with the largest forest manager in the country, Hancock Natural Resource Group, based in Tokoroa. His boss is also a graduate of the National Diploma in Forestry.

Having seen the value of higher education, he now wants to study for the Waiariki Bachelor of Applied Management.

The comments from Vlasco below reflect his experience at Waiariki. No better endorsement could a lecturer receive than comments such as this.

“Also, please send my regards to Mark (Mark Cleland) James (James Broadley), Trevor (Trevor Gray) and Ollie (Ollie Kemp). They are best teachers ever. I feel sorry because I didn’t manage to find time to visit them and say a big thank you for helping me to make my life better.”
