Why I choose Waiariki?

There are a couple of reasons:

  1. I have completed my English study at waiariki, I felt it was a good place to study; I have really enjoyed the life there.
  2. After I completed my English course, I was thinking about join forestry industry in the future. I have done some research at that time, there are only two schools offer Forestry study in the country, Waiariki is one of them.

What I have learnt?

The forestry management course has provided a huge mount of NZ forestry knowledge, which covers most of the students’ needs.

  1. A good overview of how nz forestry industry works
  2. Forestry related Legislation
  3. Biology
  4. Forestry mapping
  5. Harvest planning
  6. planting, pruning, thinning , plotting and so on

The course seems like a forestry library, I always know that it is impossible to pick up everything; I have never planned to do some outdoor jobs in the future, so I was more focused on the technical part of the course. I have found that I was very interested in and good at forestry mapping and planning during the course. The tutors have been given me a lot of helps, advises and directions.

How it has helped you in my working career?

I have been working in GIS industry for last 5 years, I have been working for 3 different employees, and the projects I have been working on were all forestry related.

My forestry background has obviously helped me a lot.
